Vigor2750 series VDSL2 router is the latest to get a bit of a firmware revamp with Version 1.5.1.
Security has been boosted hugely in this firmware update with the additions of Firewall traffic control, URL Content Filter and IM/P2P Filter controls, Web Content Filter (powered by Commtouch), and Application Enforcement. In terms of wireless security, wireless isolation has been added, which makes your PC’s SSID (Service Set Identifier) invisible on a wireless network to prevent other wireless users from accessing your information and hacking into your network.
Some improvements have been made with the inclusion of VDSL Point-to-Point application (CO mode) and VDSL bridge mode, making higher bandwidth leased-line application and LAN-to-LAN connectivity easy to achieve.
Other exciting additions: a second subnet for routing usage, WAN IP Alias setting, NTP synchronisation interval setting, and the number of NAT sessions has been increased to a very sizable 30,000 sessions.
And very, very important is the addition of a File Explorer for USB disks. So not only can users use 3G broadband via the Vigor2750, but they will also be able to access USB storage through the File Explorer.
The Vigor2750 series is for those on the new generation VDSL2 (Very-high-speed Digital Subscriber Line 2) infrastructure, the cost-efficient choice for upgrading existing xDSL-infrastructure when the Next Generation Network (NGN) is deployed. Vigor2750 series features a one VDSL2 WAN interface with a 4 Gigabit LAN switch to ensure optimal data and voice packet transmission to client devices for bandwidth-intensive applications, such as high-definition video streaming, online gaming, and Internet telephony. In addition, Vigor2750 series routers are future-proof devices, compliant with official IPv6-ready (Internet Protocol version 6) certification. With this compliancy, users don’t need to worry about running out of current IPv4 addresses due to rapid IPv4 address exhaustion.
